Methods for Deleting an Instagram Account:

In general, there are 2 methods for deleting an Instagram account; one is temporary deletion and the other is permanent deletion of the page. As their names suggest, permanent deletion results in your page being permanently removed from Instagram’s servers, while temporary deletion keeps access to it active. Below, we have explained the features of each of these methods separately:

Features of Temporary Deletion of an Instagram Page

• By deactivating (temporarily deleting the page), you can log back into your page whenever you want.
• When you deactivate your page, your posts, likes, comments, and activities on Instagram are temporarily removed but remain on Instagram’s servers; so that when you reactivate your page, all these items will return.
• With temporary deletion of the page, your username is also temporarily removed from Instagram; meaning that no one can register your username.

Features of Permanent Deletion of an Instagram Page

• Deleting an Instagram account (permanent deletion of the page) is an irreversible process.
• With permanent deletion of the page, all your posts, likes, comments, and activities on Instagram will be permanently erased.
• By completely deleting your account, you allow other users to register your username.

How to Temporarily Delete an Instagram Page:

Are you not ready to completely forget Instagram yet? In this case, you can temporarily delete your page. Unfortunately, you cannot deactivate your page using the Instagram app; therefore, you need to follow the steps below through your computer or mobile browser:

• Open your browser and search for the address Login Instagram .
• Log into your account via the Instagram form.
• Click on your profile picture in the upper right corner (desktop browser) or lower left (mobile browser).
• From the Profile section, go to Edit profile.

• Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Temporarily disable my account.
• From the section Why are you disabling your account, select an option as the reason for deleting your account; until you select an option from this section, you will not be allowed to deactivate. (The explanation of the options in this section is provided below.)
• Enter your account password in the relevant box and click on the Temporarily disable account button.

By completing the above steps, your account will be temporarily removed from Instagram. To return to your account, simply log back in using your username and password. Note that you can only deactivate your Instagram account once a week.

How to Permanently Delete an Instagram Account:

As mentioned, deleting an Instagram account results in the permanent removal of your page; therefore, if you are ready to permanently delete your Instagram page, open your mobile or computer browser and follow the steps below:

• Go to the Instagram website and log into your account via the login form. If you have more than one account on Instagram, make sure to log into the desired page (the one you want to delete).
• Go to the Instagram account deletion link. Unfortunately, there is no easy access option to this page through the Instagram menu; therefore, you can only access the deletion page by clicking this link.
• On this page, you will be asked the reason for deleting your account. Select one of the reasons from the dropdown menu. Note that at this stage you must select one (the available options in this menu are explained below).
• Finally, you need to enter your account password again and then click on “Permanently delete my account.”

By completing the above steps, all your account information on Instagram, such as posts, likes, comments, and messages will be deleted. However, Instagram states that some information from deleted pages may be retained for legal purposes for up to 3 months.

Guide to the “Reason for Page Deletion” Page:

During both methods of deleting a Telegram account (deactivation and permanent deletion), a page will open asking you for the reason for this action. The options on this page may seem a bit vague to you; here we explain each of them:

• Too busy / Too distracting: By selecting this option, you inform Instagram that you are busy and cannot use your account.
• Created a second account: You may have created another account and no longer need this one; select this option for that reason.
• Trouble getting started: If you have difficulty using this app for any reason (e.g., inability due to old age), use this option. However, by selecting this option, Instagram will suggest reading an article.
• Privacy concerns: You may want to delete your page due to privacy issues. By selecting this option, Instagram will suggest privatizing your page.
• Concerned about my data: If you are worried about your personal information being leaked, select this option.
• Too many ads: If Instagram ads are bothering you, select this option as the reason for deleting your account.
• Can’t find people to follow: This option means you couldn’t find the people you wanted to follow.
• Something else: This option means “other reasons”.
